NP Liquid Glass Systems – Prophylactic  coatings for the Healthcare environment.

NP Liquid Glass Systems – Prophylactic  coatings for the Healthcare environment.

NP Liquid Glass Systems is a subdivision of Nanopool GmbH. It has been specifically created to address the needs of  the Healthcare environment .

The cleanliness of hospitals is of course a major issue and the team at Nanopool knew from on-going research that our liquid glass technology  (SiO2 ultra thin glass layering technology) would  have a massive impact  in keeping hospitals cleaner and making them easier to clean. This point of view was recently confirmed by the data which was collated as a result of our testing within the NHS.
The tests took place in Southport and the Formby District General Hospital.  Over a 3 month period surfaces within the hospital  ,which were coated with SiO2, were swabbed  daily . The surfaces included , over bed tables,  wash basins, flooring, telephones , cabinets, door handles and switches.  In this double blind study the swabbing was conducted by an independent lab agency  The microorganism count  was measured at regular intervals on the surface by using the ATP method. (ATP = adenosine triphosphate is a very energy-rich compound within a cell. The existence of ATP or its concentration indicates contamination .) Where it exists there is the risk of a microbial contamination because the cell remnants may serve as a basis for the ever-present microorganism.
Antimicrobial surface coating = a simple, quick application which  offers  a highly durable  prophylactic and easy to clean coating.
The test evaluation showed  between 48 and 25 percent less organic contamination on the coated  surface in comparison to the untreated surfaces . Additionally ,it was clearly noted that the  coated surfaces were easier to clean.
The results verify the fact that the refinement with the Nanopool technology  is extremely effective against microbial contamination and therefore will significantly improve the hygiene standards within hospitals . It is also important to note that in most instances the coatings actually reduce cleaning costs.
By using the antimicrobial surfaces provided by nanopool liquid glass the number of germs will be remarkably reduced in the  long term. (In many instances our coatings will last for years.) This is confirmed by studies conducted  in hospitals and retirement homes in Germany.

Summary of NP Liquid Glass Systems:

  1. Significant reduction in bacteria
  2. reduction in maintenance costs up to 40 per cent
  3. safety confirmed by experts

Expert judgement:

Prof. Dr. med. Klosterhalfen (Pathologist), chief physician – hospital Düren

„The surfaces, treated with different nanopool products were subjected to a large number of tests. The test results prove that there is no cell and histoid toxicity in direct and indirect contact with the refined surfaces. The products comply with the standards DIN EN ISO 10993-(1-12) and thus they are classified as absolute biocompatible! “

The Future.

As well as coating surfaces within hospitals we can also coat skin and medical devices , including, sutures, bandages , stethoscopes  implants etc.

We will be spending a great deal of time and energy in bringing this technology on stream as soon as possible.
